This series of work is inspired by religious icons and relics. It's part of a larger body of work that explores the venerated image and its traditions. The figures are depicted as isolated, shadowy, mysterious forms floating in an atmospheric space. Their presence is memorialized in iron oxide, or rust, that has been stained onto silk cloth. These images are meant to be meditative and reflective as the viewer gazes upon them.
